Maddisun

Maddison Keiver – as Maddisun – stands tall as one of British Columbia’s brightest young indie-pop singer-songwriter talents and will continue to grow as such.

Melding together a winning combination of indie-folk, soulful R&B, reggae, electro-pop, and classic rock influences (the best familiar elements of Sheryl Crow, Adele Adkins, Joan Armatrading, Stevie Nicks, Janis Ian, Tori Amos, Carole King, and others), Maddisun’s wise-beyond-her-years stories of heartache, loss, and redemption are convincingly projected through her brilliant vocals and winning stage presence. In a modern time when everyone yearns for tactile authenticity after a generation of forgettable digital ephemera, Maddisun is a sincere and magnetic rising artist who earns her keep onstage and off – and works with a considerable (and continually expanding) set of strongly crafted original material.

Comfortable either as a solo performer (accompanying herself on guitar or key-boards) or fronting a full band, Maddisun consistently delivers professionally executed live sets, whether the audience numbers 50 people or 1500 people – and said audience consistently leaves the show spellbound and satisfied. Keep your eyes on Maddisun; she’s not going anywhere but upwards.

Make no mistake – Maddisun is a True Talent who will remain active on the scene for many years to come. Stay tuned!

Madelyn Read

Though she may have spent her whole life in the city of Vancouver BC, Madelyn’s heart is in the rural tales of Folk/Americana music. This duality of urban and country is ever present in her music, as she pulls inspiration from Folk/Americana groups like I’m with Her, Joni Mitchell, and First Aid Kit and blends these sounds with lyrics about growing up in an urban centre.

While a lifelong songwriter, Madelyn's music career really began to flourish when she met Louise Burns (Lillix) in 2019. Together, they cowrote Madelyn's first professionally recorded single, "How Easy," which Louise produced at 604 Studios in Vancouver. After releasing the song in the Fall of 2020 and taking a brief pandemic hiatus, Madelyn launched into writing her debut album for which she received funding from both FACTOR Canada and Canada Council for the Arts. This funding enabled her to record a 10-song record with the help of talented friends who now form her full band. Forming in early 2022, Madelyn and the Petrichorus already played their first festival, Foodstock Festival in Burnaby, BC, and are planning to hit the road together to tour the new album in 2023.

Her forthcoming debut album, Concrete Country , represents a modern Canadiana that asks, “What does it mean to live in a North American city in the 21st century?” Madelyn’s nostalgic and haunting songs feel like a lonesome train ride through the prairies that brings you straight into a bustling downtown core. An ode to home that is full of love and frustration, Concrete Country is a striking, thought-provoking, and heart-warming collection for the urban lover of folk.
