Robert Connely Farr brings his juke-joint style of Bentonia blues to the Heatley for a January residency (Jan 9, 16, 23 & 30) – no cover!
“an album you simply must hear… under the mentorship of Jimmy “Duck” Holmes, Farr & co have created a masterpiece.”
American Blues Scene
“this album will be among my picks of the year without a doubt… a work of brooding greatness. Highly recommended for all Americana fans.”
Robert Connely Farr is a songwriter originally from Bolton, Mississippi (Charley Patton / Mississippi Sheiks) currently residing in Vancouver, Canada. Since 2017, cherished elder Mississippi bluesman Jimmy “Duck” Holmes has been mentoring Farr in the Bentonia Style of the Delta Blues, an obscure style that Holmes learned directly from Henry Stuckey, who also taught Skip James, among others.
Late last year Farr released ‘Dirty South Blues’ (prod. Leeroy Stagger) to widespread critical acclaim. American Blues Scene called it “a masterpiece… an album you must hear”. Elmore Magazine (with comparisons to Springsteen’s ‘Nebraska’) said it’s “completely authentic… sinks it’s claws in deep.”
Farr works with Jimmy Duck Holmes’ Blue Front Records. He was recently nominated for Songwriter of the Year & New Artist of the Year for the 2019 Maple Blues Awards.
